We recently purchased two more pigs from Apple Annies, to add to our three already. They are Tamworth heritage pigs, or otherwise known as the "bacon" pig. The purchase of them came with a great trade: leftovers from the academy's cafeteria, in trade for a reduced price of pork from one of the pigs.
My kids can't resist naming the pigs. At least they stick with food related names, as they are reminded constantly that they will be harvested this fall. The two new additions are called Licorice and Bacon and are fitting in nicely on our farm.
Pouring the Cream of Broccoli on the ground, I am surrounded by five snorting pigs. Hamlet, the boy, from our original three pigs, proceeds to roll in the soup and then settles in to slurp it up, laying in the middle of the pour. I laugh, and and enjoy the moment with him.
